Jim is a partner in the Workers’ Compensation Defense Practice at Wiedner & McAuliffe’s Chicago office. He also oversees the operations and development of the Firm’s St. Louis office. Since joining Wiedner & McAuliffe in 1987, Jim’s practice has focused on all areas of workers’ compensation defense and employment law. In 1992, Jim was admitted and sworn in by Justice William Rehnquist as an Attorney and Counselor of the United States Supreme Court.
Jim graduated from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts. He earned his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall School of Law in Chicago in 1987, studying as a night student while working in retail sales.
Jim frequently writes and speaks on workers’ compensation and employment law topics for clients and the Illinois State Bar Association. He has served as a Board Member for the Workers’ Compensation Law Section and as Co-Editor of the ISBA’s Workers’ Compensation Law Section quarterly newsletter.
Jim was elected to two terms as a Village Trustee, serving from 1999 to 2005. During this time, he chaired both the Economic Development Committee and the Public Safety Committee, which oversee local business growth and development and the operation of the Village Police and Fire Departments. Jim currently serves on the Board of Directors as co-chair of the development committee for the Providence St. Mel School, located in Garfield Park on the west side of Chicago. Jim is married with two children, both adopted from China.
