Michael is a partner in the Workers’ Compensation Defense practice in Wiedner & McAuliffe’s Chicago and Rockford offices. He defends employers, from small to large, in all aspects of workers’ compensation claims. His clients have spanned a variety of industries throughout his career including hospitals, municipalities, staffing agencies and manufacturers.

Having taken many cases to trial and mindful of the expense of protracted cases, Michael strives to expedite all claims. He also provides preventive counseling to mitigate employers’ exposure to potentially complex legal issues. Defense work with municipal clients has given Michael an in-depth understanding of the applicable pension codes surrounding additional benefits payable to Illinois firefighters and police.

Michael authored a chapter analyzing compensability in the seminal “In Course Of” handbook of the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education Practice program. He regularly presents education seminars on workers’ compensation topics.
