James is a member of the Workers’ Compensation Defense Practice in Wiedner & McAuliffe’s Chicago office.
James advises and defends employers in all aspects of workers’ compensation matters, including taking matters to trial and negotiating favorable settlements. He counsels businesses in industries including aviation, manufacturing, shipping, hospitality, and others. James also is part of Wiedner & McAuliffe’s COVID-19 task force, which assists in defending employers in COVID-19 related claims. Additionally, James’ focus includes keeping track of recent legislation impacting workers’ compensation and advises clients of the same.
James graduated from the University of Michigan, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History. He earned his Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. During law school, James served as a Senior Editor for the Annals of Health Law, and published the article, Time to Rethink the Illinois Corporate Practice of Medicine Doctrine in the PPACA Healthcare Market Era, 24 ANN. HEALTH L. 64 (2015). Additionally, James was a legal writing tutor for first year law students. After clerking for Wiedner & McAuliffe throughout law school, James joined the firm as an attorney in 2016. James also serves on the Young Lawyers Section board of the Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association.
