James is a partner in the Workers’ Compensation Defense Practice in Wiedner & McAuliffe’s Chicago office.

James advises and defends employers in all aspects of workers’ compensation matters, including taking matters to trial and negotiating favorable settlements.  He counsels businesses in a wide range of industries including aviation, manufacturing, shipping, hospitality, and others.  James also is part of Wiedner & McAuliffe’s COVID-19 task force, which assists in defending employers in COVID-19 related claims.  Additionally, James’ focus includes keeping track and advising clients of recent legislation impacting workers’ compensation.  James also serves on the Young Lawyers Section board of the Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association, and has been selected by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in 2023.

James graduated from the University of Michigan, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History. He earned his Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. After clerking for Wiedner & McAuliffe throughout law school, James joined the firm as an attorney in 2016.
