Karen is a partner in the Worker’s Compensation Defense practice based in Wiedner & McAuliffe’s Chicago office. Karen’s workers’ compensation practice emphasizes the defense of wage-loss claims for major airlines, retail and municipalities. She regularly handles complex cases, often involving death claims.

Karen works with large insurance companies, defending employers across a variety of industries including manufacturing, trucking, food service and hospitals. While comfortable taking matters to trial, she understands the value of settlement and helping clients avoid litigation costs.

Karen has experience with the Medicare Secondary Payer Act, and has counseled employers in the preparation of Medicare set-asides and reducing costs associated with future medical treatment plans. She also has experience defending against excessive long-term opioid prescriptions.

In her free time, Karen enjoys traveling around the world and spending time on Lake Michigan in the warmer months.
