Rafal is a partner in the Workers’ Compensation Defense practice in Wiedner & McAuliffe’s Chicago office.  He counsels businesses and individuals in all aspects of workers’ compensation and real estate matters.  Rafal also leads the firm’s Real Estate practice, handling all facets of real estate law, both residential and commercial, and resolving landlord/tenant issues for various clients.

Rafal is a Certified Medicare Secondary Payer Professional (CMSP), which allows him to specially counsel clients regarding the Medicare and Medicare Secondary Payer Act.  He defends employers in workers’ compensation insurance compliance, identifying defenses under the Act, taking matters to trial and negotiating favorable settlements directly with the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission Insurance Compliance Department.

Before joining Wiedner & McAuliffe in 2012, Rafal was an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Illinois in the Workers’ Compensation Bureau in the Chicago offices.  He has been selected by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in 2018 and 2019.

In his spare time, Rafal joins his friends for Bike MS, the largest fundraising bike series in the world dedicated to changing the world for people with multiple sclerosis.
